Celebrating our mothers and grandmothers (Issue 7 2017)

Written on the 25 May 2017

On Wednesday 10 May, students and staff were joined by their mothers and grandmothers to receive the Eucharist in a special Mother's Day Mass. Fr Peter Sheedy celebrated Mass and reflected on the role of Mary as not only a nurturing mother to Jesus, but as the first disciple. Mary learned from Jesus, as mothers learn from their children, which was much to the delight of the students present!

The congregation gathered in the parlour for morning tea after the Mass and were joined by student leaders and staff.
Special thanks to those who donated goods for refugee mothers in our support of Justice for Refugees SA. Your contribution ensures that those mothers in our community who are on the margins experience some joy this Mother's Day. Thanks also to the Sacred Heart College Parents and Friends for their involvement in the Mass and for the bookmarks they provided to our guests.
