Getting back to nature (Issue 9 2017)
Written on the 22 June 2017
Walter Park was a hive of activity on Friday last week (9 June) as our inaugural Stage 2 Child Studies class prepared nature play based activities for a group of enthusiastic toddlers. The students set up a variety of activities including mud pies, pine cone painting, leaf and bark art, and creating nature faces as well as a reading corner, which kept the toddlers busy for a good hour.
The activity enabled the students to gain an understanding around nature play, a concept that encourages children to spend more time playing outdoors, using their imaginations in a natural setting, which inspires their creativity, learning and socialising.
