Journey to Emmaus (Issue 7 2017)

Written on the 25 May 2017

Twelve Year 9 boys did our College proud last Friday (19 May). Each boy was paired up with a student from Marymount College and the pair took charge of a group of 10 Year 5 students for the day. The Year 5 students came from five of our source primary schools in the Southwest region; Stella Maris, Saint Martin De Porres, Saint Therese and Saint Bernadettes.

This Journey to Emmaus Program enables these young students to meet students from other primary schools who they will be journeying through the middle and senior years with. They also get to meet students who are already at Sacred Heart College and learn how wonderful our older students are!

Our boys took on their role with a great sense of responsibility. They became young teachers to these younger students and the Year 5's really looked up to them. At recess and lunch the boys got the young students interacting with each other and active by playing soccer, kicking the football, playing board games or just chatting. At the end of the day there were lots of handshakes and excitement about meeting again in Term 3.

Well done to the following Year 9 boys who took part: Seb Reichelt, Fletcher Luscombe, Henry McAuliffe, Luke Romano, Ned Parr, Hayden Supple, Darcy Gluyas, Lewis Rayson, Jonas Garcia, Corey Paparella, Adam Leydon, Gabe Mangelsdorf and Daniel Kennedy.

Thanks also to Dylan and Holly, the Youth Ministers responsible for organising the day and co-coordinating the involvement of each of the schools.
