New Music Academy kicks off (Issue 3 2017)
Written on the 9 March 2017
The 22 Year 6 students who have been accepted into the new Sacred Heart College Music Academy had their first ensemble rehearsal on Monday afternoon (6 March). Despite most of the students only having 1-2 lessons on their instrument so far, they worked well as an ensemble and produced a very strong sound!
The aim of the Academy is to use music as a tool to improve the executive function skills of students such as attention span, problem solving, and resilience. Students in the Academy are provided with weekly instrumental lessons as well as ensemble rehearsals. We look forward to seeing the Academy students develop throughout the year.
We welcome parents/carers to attend an open rehearsal session on Monday 3 April, 4.00 - 4.15pm in the MPC.
