Year 9 Guest Speaker: Brent Reilly (Issue 2 2017)

Written on the 22 February 2017

Year 9 students were fortunate to have a visit from former Adelaide Crows veteran, Brent Reilly in Week 2 of Term 1. Brent openly shared his story of his AFL career as well as reflecting on the shock training accident that fractured his skull and ultimately, cut short his playing career.

Brent now works in the Wellness and Resilience Centre as part of the Mind and Brain Unit at the SA Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). He spoke to the students about having a 'growth mindset,' showing gratitude to others and understanding how important it is to have resilience and positive influences in your life.

The talk complemented parts of the Rite Journey Program that the students are currently undertaking this year. We thank Brent for sharing his story with the Year 9 boys and they certainly took a lot from the experience.
