Connect Night

On Thursday 17 August, 14 students travelled to Cardijn College to participate in our second Connect Night for the year. There were more than 35 students on the night and we continued to explore the Bicentenary theme of Awaken! Following on from our last Connect Night, we talked about the progress of our practical actions within our school community. We also had a particular focus on awakening as individuals so we could continue to be the best versions of ourselves.

"The connect night was a great opportunity to step back from our busy schooling lives and awaken ourselves to the presence and importance of our family and friends, especially during times of stress and pressure. We were able to take time and stop briefly to be present with friends, meet new people and reflect on how we can awaken to all aspects of our lives." - Cara McGlaughlin

"During the Connect Night I talked to a lot of new people and learnt a lot about how people connect with their faith. I made a lot of new connections with Cardijn and had a lot of fun." - Liv Carver

We want to thank Cardijn again for the generous hosting of the night and we look forward to what the future holds.

Soup Making - MSol Social Justice Group

On Tuesday 15 August we had our first soup making day for the Adelaide Day Centre. The Adelaide Day Centre is a place of refuge for homeless men in the city of Adelaide. They are a non-profit organisation with the aim of connecting the community and providing meal assistance, as well as daily activities such as crafts, cooking and gardening.

Over the past two terms we have been making pumpkin and minestrone soup from the generous donations of ingredients brought in by the school community to help contribute to the meal assistance the centre provides. Last term we donated over 45 litres of soup to the Day Centre and they were incredibly grateful for our support.

We would like to say an incredible thank you to the staff at the Home Ec Centre for their help with each of our soup making afternoons, especially Pat Fooks and Michelle Hall for their ongoing support.

We will be making soup fortnightly until the end of Term 3 and we welcome any more donations of vegetables, or other soup ingredients.
