Girls' Sports Awards 2017

At the conclusion of the 2017 Girls Winter Sport season, 120 athletes, coaches and staff gathered for the annual Girls Sports presentations. The event took on a new format for 2017 with the presentations taking place in the new SHC Br Joseph McAteer function centre for afternoon tea. It was a wonderful event to formally acknowledge and celebrate the many success of our female athletes from 2017. Each team was awarded a Best & Fairest and a Coach's choice award.

The John Cadd Cup for our Best & Fairest Open A Basketball player was awarded to Stephanie Warn after a successful season as Captain. The Netball Open A Best & Fairest Cup was awarded to Sophie Agostino for the second year in a row after another brilliant season. As departing Year 12 athletes, Stephanie and Sophie will be greatly missed from the SHC Sport program in 2018 and we thank them for their three years of commitment to the Basketball and Netball programs. A full list of all our individual award winners can be seen below.

The SHOC Netball scholarship to be used in the 2018 season was awarded to Year 12 student Alice Fry for her dedication and commitment to her Netball team both on and off court. Alice's commitment extended well beyond the Netball court with service to the College Water Polo (Best & Fairest), Swimming, Basketball (runner up Best & Fairest) and Football side also.

Our Premiership teams were acknowledged and we congratulated our Open A1, Open A2, Open B2 SHC5, Open C2 SHC9 and 10B2 SHC3 Netball sides and our Open A Basketball team on their successful seasons. Our Open Knock-Out Football side were acknowledged for their 2017 State title and well deserved accolade as the best School football side in South Australia.

A huge thank you to all our tremendous coaching staff, parents, umpires and SHC staff that generously give their time to ensure the success of the Girls Sports program. Congratulations to all our Girls on their involvement in the College Sports Program for 2017. We look forward to another successful year in 2018.

Boys' Sports Awards 2017

During Terms 1 to 3, the SHC Sports Department has provided students with the opportunity to choose from 11 'weekly' sports. Each team trained once a week and played once a week. Over 250 students took up the offer this year and experienced the highs and lows of playing sport for their College.

Our coaches have dedicated much of their time to providing our students with a coach who is commitment, passionate and knowledgeable and their consistent presence has afforded the students a positive experience whilst playing sport at SHC.

We thank all of our coaches (especially our teacher coaches) for their effort this year, it is greatly appreciated.
The coaches of our sports teams were asked to nominate two - three awards depending on the size of their team. The Best and Fairest award has been selected based on the players' demonstration of the following attributes:

  • Performance in games/trainings
  • Commitment to team concepts
  • Commitment to games/trainings
  • Commitment to improvement.

Congratulations to all of the award recipients for their hard work and commitment!

If you have not yet collected your award, please visit the Sports Office in the Br Joseph McAteer Centre to pick it up.
