ACK-SHC Exchange 2016 - Celebrating 60 Years (Issue 8 2016)
Written on the 10 June 2016
In 1957, two Marist Brothers challenged each other to an Aussie Rules Football match, to be played by the respective teams they were coaching. This first challenge carried extra impetus as these two Marist Brothers were also fraternal brothers. The rivalry between Assumption College and Sacred Heart College had begun and the Kilmore Exchange was born!
Fast forward to 2016 and the ACK-SHC (Kilmore) Exchange will celebrate its 60th year. A rich annual tradition, students will compete in a range of Cultural and Sporting events that have reflected the extra-curricular activities of the two Marist Colleges. This year's Exchange will be held at Sacred Heart College and include Athletics, Basketball, Dance, Debating, Football, Hockey, Music, Netball and Soccer.
All in all the Exchange weekend is a fabulous display of the talent that lies within our student group. As members of the Sacred Heart Community we take tremendous pride in our performances and the manner in which we conduct ourselves. Many lifelong friendships have been established and at least one has led to marriage!
Expressions of interest, for participation in this Exchange, are currently being organised by teachers and coaches. If selected, students will be required to billet a student from Assumption College for the duration of the exchange, Friday 19 August to Sunday 21 August.
We would love to see past students and staff who have participated in the Exchange at some of the events over the course of the weekend. Look out for more details over the coming weeks on our Facebook page and in our college newsletter as we celebrate 60 years!
