All Schools Mixed Touch Championships (Issue 5 2018) Sport
Written on the 20 September 2018
On a wet and windy day, three teams, two Open and one U15s, competed in the All Schools Mixed Touch Championships in the City Parklands. It was a great day despite the conditions with our Open Team 1 and U15s both finishing 3rd overall.
Open Team 2 had a very tough pool coming up against the eventual winners in their first game which knocked their confidence. In true Hearts spirit, they didn't give up and rallied to the end. We were up against some impressive school teams who play Touch on a regular basis. It was a credit to our students to show excellent teamwork despite only a few training sessions.
The combined Marymount girls and Year 10 students really improved their team work over the course of the day and by the finals were really combining well. Outstanding contributions from Mackenzie van der Jeugd (Year 8), Mia Rieniets (Year 9), Darcy Gluyas, Jordan Sanderson (Year 10), Will Day, Kai Laidlow, Sean Ross, Kyle Scott and Courtney Wallace (Year 11). Thank you Emily Williams and Mel Carey for coaching and supporting the teams.
