Celebrating National PE Week (Issue 18 2016)
Written on the 24 November 2016
Sacred Heart Middle School took part in National Physical Education Week last week 14- 18 November (Week 5). This week was created to 'promote the importance of Health and PE in the Australian Curriculum, and highlight the importance of Health and PE to the learning and development of children and young people' (ACHPER).
As part of this week, a different activity was organised each morning and was open to all students. These activities included: t-ball, gridiron, croquet, netball, skipping, cricket and golf. It was great to not only see such a large turn out to each activity, but also great to see students from different year levels and different abilities get involved and positively interact with each other.
As well as these mentioned activities, individual year levels organised their own activities. These included a morning of activities for the Year 6 students and a gridiron tournament for the Year 7 students as part of their 'Salad Bowl' competition.
A big thank you must go out to all of the boys who participated in the activities during the week and also to the teachers who gave up their time to run these activities. It certainly was a successful week and fun was had by all!
