Cross Country (Issue 2 2016)
Written on the 16 June 2016
The cross country season started with a bang with 3 races in quick succession. The first Wednesday afternoon race was attended by 8 athletes and they all enjoyed the atmosphere and race. I recorded these times for our runners but am still waiting on the official results to distinguish their overall placings in the primary and junior categories. Both the primary and junior athletes ran 1.9km.
On Friday May 20 three Year 6 boys competed in the City South selection race to hopefully race at the State Championships and possibly then become part of the SAPSASA team for the nationals. Cael Mulholland won his race and Lochie MacNab came 6th, narrowly missing out on a spot on the team. Both boys ran very well and we are proud of their results.

The second Wednesday afternoon race was also well supported even though it was a very cold afternoon. All of the boys ran well and there were a few surprises with runners coming from behind just to pip their fellow SHC runners. It will be interesting to see how they fare in the future and how this may help them push each other.
