Farewell (Issue 18 2016)
Written on the 24 November 2016
After a long, diverse and rewarding career in Catholic Education, the time has come to close this very big chapter in my life at the conclusion of this year. The time has passed very quickly. I have valued these last six years at Sacred Heart Middle School and the change, diversity, evolving community and the schools commitment to adolescent boys and their development. My own life has evolved and changed over this time too and for this I am grateful.
I wish all members of SHC community the peace that is Christmas and share with you one of my favourite reflections on Mary at this time of the year.
'Because she put her trust in God, Mary said yes to the angel who was spinning her world around. In doing that, she teaches us to let go of our need to control and cling, just to let ourselves go in the utter freedom and joy into the arms of God.' - Michael O'Neill McGrath, brother of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales.
