First XI Cricket (Issue 7 2017)

Written on the 30 November 2017

The First XI Cricket team have started off the season well, recording 8 victories from 12 matches played so far. One of these victories was against the SHOC Cricket Club in the Br Jordan Redden Cup match, played on the Main Oval on 21 November, 2017. SHOCS batted first and set the First XI the difficult task of chasing down 147 in the 20 overs allocated. Thanks to an outstanding 92 runs off 57 balls by opening batsman Gavin Regan, the First XI managed to chase down the total with 1 ball to spare.

Pictured above is Br Jordan, surrounded by players from both teams after the match. We were thrilled that Br Jordan was able to be in attendance and it is a privilege to be able to play a match for a trophy named in his honour.

Go Hearts!

First XI Messenger Bowl T20 Competition
On Friday 3 November, 2017, Sacred Heart played Scotch College in the First XI Messenger Bowl T20 Competition.

The SHC First XI team was made up of brothers, Zac McCabe (Year 9) and Samuel McCabe (Year 11), as well as Henry McCabe (Year 10), the cousin of Sam and Zac (pictured). This is the first time that the three lads have played First XI Cricket together and the first time that we have had three family members represent SHC in the same First XI team for a very long time.

All three lads were influential in getting SHC home against Scotch by 50 runs with the final score being SHC 7/130 def Scotch 10/80. Well done to the team for a great win!
