From the Assistant to the Principal - Champagnat Project (Issue 6 2018)
Written on the 10 May 2018
Next week learners in Year 7 and 9 will be participating in NAPLAN testing. NAPLAN is simply one tool that can use be used to measure and analyse achievement in Literacy & Numeracy, it is certainly not the be all and end all of student achievement. NAPLAN data can be a useful way to analyse school wide strengths and areas of growth, but is not always the best way to measure the achievement of an individual learner on an individual day. I encourage families who may have learners sitting NAPLAN next week, to reassure them that while NAPLAN can be useful, being a successful learner is as much about the process of learning as it is the final product/assessment.
Term 2 Winter Sports
The Winter CEA program kicks off this week and I'm looking forward to getting out and about across campuses to support the wide range of learners participating. A reminder for families that might be coming to the Middle School, our site is very much a building site and I ask that you please follow the maps provided by the College in regards to access. If in doubt, please see a College staff member for assistance.
Founder's Day & Marist Mission March
We are looking forward to gathering on Friday at the Senior School for the Founders Day Liturgy and Marist Mission March. Friday will be a significant moment in the history of the College, the first time that learners, educators and extended staff gather from each campus as one unified Sacred Heart College. Learners at the Middle School are reminded of the importance of being dismissed at the end of the day by their Year Level House Leader, I also ask families to ensure that pick up routines established and communicated to the College are adhered to.
Mother's Day being celebrated this Sunday, I take the opportunity to wish all mothers, grandmothers, aunts and significant women a very happy Mother's Day. We look forward to welcoming the special women for our Year 7 Learners at a special Mother's Day Celebration at 9:00am on Monday 14 May.
