A warm welcome return to all families as we enter the new Semester. I trust that learners enjoyed the break and are feeling refreshed and energised for the term ahead.

Professional Learning Week
At the end of last term staff gathered for a week of professional learning. The focus was on Positive Education and Visible Learning which was facilitated by the Positivity Institute and Corwin. Over the course of the week staff explored the science and practice of Positive Psychology and its application in education. In addition, we looked at the importance of lesson intentions, success criteria and learner characteristics. Staff embraced the opportunity to explore research and there was an energy that filled the room as teachers discussed data and shared ideas and new strategies that they will implement for the term ahead. I continue to be grateful for the work of our teachers and acknowledge their commitment to learning.

Academic Assembly
Earlier this week we gathered as a Marymount community to acknowledge students who excelled in their learning during Semester 1. Students recognised at this celebration have shown a deep commitment to their studies. They are focussed, have spent time completing homework tasks, questioning, clarifying their thinking with teachers and have meticulously edited and refined their work before submitting assessments of the highest standard. The Academic Assembly was a proud moment at Marymount where hard work, effort and success were acknowledged and celebrated for Semester 1.
