Written on the 7 December 2016

It certainly has been an amazing and prosperous year, and is hard to believe that the end is near! There have been many highlights over the year and I would like to this opportunity to farewell four staff members.

Jen Callanan
Jen has been a very important and valued member of the Middle School staff for six years. She has been at the forefront in leading the school in faith formation and Religious Education in her role as APRIM. Jen has instilled in the boys a strong sense of social justice and the need to be people of action. This has been evidenced in her work around supporting local causes such as the Hutt Street Centre. I would like to thank Jen for her hard work and dedication to the community at Sacred Heart and sincerely wish her all the best as she begins a new chapter in her life.

Chris Egan
Chris has been a wonderful servant to our community in her role as Student Counsellor for 13 years. During this time she has nurtured the wellbeing of many students and their families, often helping them to navigate through very challenging times. Like Jen, Chris is about to begin a new chapter of her life and again I would like to thank her on behalf of the Middle School community for her commitment and dedication to her role. All the best into the future Chris.

Heather Mansfield
Heather has been a wonderful educator, especially in the area of Japanese for six years at the Middle School. Heather always brings energy and passion to her teaching and interactions with staff. Our loss is Nazareth's gain and I know that Heather will continue to develop and thrive as a teacher. I wish her all the best into the future and I am pleased she will get the opportunity to teach senior Japanese.

Ian Hollingsworth
Ian has been an important contributor to our grounds and maintenance team for almost nine years. The notion of doing good quietly sums up Ian and I would like to thank him for doing this so well. I wish him all the best as he begins the spoils of retirement.

End of Year
I would like to take this final opportunity to thank the families, staff and students of the Middle School. It has been another terrific year and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching our students grow and develop in every facet of school life. The staff in particular are always prepared "to go the extra mile" to support the boys in their care.

I wish everyone a very happy, holy and safe Christmas and look forward to 2017 and all that it brings.

Tim Mullin
Head of Middle School
