Term 2 is an incredibly busy time for all staff and students at the Middle School.

9-11 May

This week saw our Year 7 and 9 students participate in the annual NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy) testing. There has been much written in recent times around the validity and purpose of such testing and there are certainly strong points on both sides of the discussion. At Sacred Heart College, we have been using and tracking the data over recent years to help inform our teaching practices by identifying areas our students are performing well in and areas that we may need to improve in. We will continue to use the data in this way so we can use this "snapshot" of our students' abilities in literacy and numeracy to our advantage.

Wednesday, 17 May

Hopefully you have all received sufficient information around the events and expectations of this day. It promises to be a memorable occasion and a great opportunity for staff and students from both the Middle and Senior schools to come together. Please ensure that you have returned your son's permission note outlining how he will travel home in the afternoon to his Homeroom teacher. This information is vital in ensuring that we can provide the required duty of care for all students.

Friends of Sacred Heart Middle School - Family Fun Night
Friday 19 May, 5-8pm

Just a reminder that the very first Middle School Family Fun Night is fast approaching - next Friday 19 May, 5-8pm in the Br Joseph McAteer Centre at the Senior School in Somerton Park. Families have been sent a link to register for this event via email. It is important for catering and activities planning that you register. A hard copy information was sent home with all students Friday. It promises to be a great opportunity to socialise with other families of the school.

I look forward to a great term ahead!
