Assumption College Kilmore Exchange

On 17 August, students, staff, managers and supporters made their way to Assumption College, Kilmore in Victoria for a wonderful weekend of music, dance, debating, basketball, soccer, netball, hockey, athletics and football. Many thanks to everyone who was involved, and especially to the families who provided the means for their children to participate in this memorable weekend.

Subject Selections for 2018

Year 10 and 11 students have completed their subject selections for 2018. Many thanks to families once again for working with their sons and daughters on their future study pathways. You are invited to contact the College should you or your child wish to amend any subject choices.

Parent Teacher Nights

Once again, teachers will be available to families for discussions about their child's progress in individual subjects tomorrow (for Boarder families) and on Monday 18 September (for Year 10 and 11 parents). I look forward to meeting you there!

Applications open for $45,000 Teaching Award

Applications are now open for the 2018 Commonwealth Bank Teaching Awards. The Awards (established by the Commonwealth Bank and national charity Schools Plus) recognise and reward excellence in teaching and school leadership across Australia.

In 2018, 12 outstanding educators will receive a $45,000 Teaching Fellowship, including $30,000 for a project at the Fellow's school, $10,000 for professional development and a study tour to a high-performing education system valued at $5,000.

The Fellows also join a network of leading educators - including previous Award recipients - and have unique opportunities to learn from experts and shape Australia's education landscape. The Awards celebrate educators who are having a positive impact on students' lives and education outcomes, by leading change that sets students on a path to success.

They are open to teachers and principals from all Australian schools. Teachers and school leaders working in schools in disadvantaged communities are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applications are open from 4 September - 12 October. To apply or nominate a great teacher or principal, go to www.teachingawards.com.au

With best wishes,
