SA Individual Golf Championship (Issue 3 2018) Sport

Written on the 31 May 2018

Sacred Heart College was represented by four young men and two young women in the Individual Championship at Grange Golf Club - which  started at 7am in brisk Autumn conditions! Our competitors, Shakira Kuys, Eliza Baker, Jack Tanner, Brad Bell, Corey Paparella and Jack Ramage, did the school proud, competing hard until the end.

Jack Tanner was the first SHC student to tee off playing a near floorless round to shoot and even par 72 in testing early conditions, finishing tied for the lead after 18. Jack then came out firing in the second 18 holes to be leading part way through the round, however he fell a single shot short with the battle going down to the wire for the A grade Championship. Jack took home 2nd place.

Jack Ramage played a fantastic round winning the B Grade Championship, closely followed by Corey Paparella in 3rd. Brad Bell played an up and down round in the handicap event, which saw him start with 14 points on the front nine and storm home with 20 points to finish a close second with 34 points.

Both Shakira and Eliza found the going tough in the cold early morning with rounds that were below their best in the first 18 holes (A grade). Although, rounds of 77 (Shakira) and 92 (Eliza) were more fitting, with Shakira winning the A grade Handicap event.
