Year 8/9 Knockout Tennis
Last month, our tennis girls made it through to the final of the Statewide competition. This is the first time in a long time they have made it past the first round. Lauren Gepp, Coby Sander, Bonita Stathopolous, Chloe Thomas and Bridie Wallace, have beaten Blackwood, Brighton, Unley, Tatachilla and St Peters Girls to make it through to the finals day at West Lakes. The girls had some tough competition and after some very close matches, they placed 3rd in the State.
On Wednesday 14 November, the girls became Runners-up in the Statewide Knockout Basketball competition. This was a huge achievement! The girls beat Seymour, Nazareth, Henley and Encounter to earn their place in the Grand Final against Tenison Woods College, Mount Gambier. After an early lead the girls were narrowly defeated in the final minutes. Thanks to Kristin Ward for her work with the girls last term and Mark Semmler and Richard Surynt for their coaching.
CEA Presentation Evening
On Tuesday 27 November we celebrated the achievements of our girls in their commitment to Marymount curriculum extension activities in 2018. It was a fantastic night to recognise girls who were awarded Spirit Awards for their individual teams, as well as present those girls who demonstrated outstanding commitment to the Sporting program this year. Adelaide Thunderbirds netballer, Cody Lange assisted in presentations and spoke to the girls about her journey as a netballer and about resilience, discussing how she overcame her own personal challenges in her netball career. We would like to say thank you to the large crowd who attended on the night and wish all the girls luck in their sporting pursuits in the future.
