Canberra Tour
During the last week of Term 1, 98 students from Marymount undertook an educational tour of our nation's capital*. Whilst on this tour, they participated in a variety of educational programs focussing on Australian history, culture, heritage and democracy. They had many wonderful experiences ranging from the life of a parliamentarian, to deep space travel, to sitting in on a trial in the High Court of Australia and to being a supreme athlete.

Our girls received many positive comments from the various guides and education officers at each of the sites visited. The girls engaged in this experiential learning, adapting well to living away from home which also has its challenges! What delightful ambassadors they were for the College!

A special vote of thanks to the staff for their generous and capable guidance and care of the girls. It is a demanding and rewarding four days and the staff's enthusiastic involvement is critical to its success - the amazing weather helped!

STEM Workshop
Marymount Year 7's were involved in a STEM workshop where they had to determine how the number of breaths would influence how far a balloon powered vehicle could travel. There was much excitement seeing forces at work.

* The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit their National Capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist parents in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government contributes funding under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program towards the travel expenses incurred. The $60 rebate for each student who attended the Canberra trip was deducted from the total cost prior to the excursion. We would like to thank the Australian Government for their support of this program.
