From the Deputy Principal (Friday 19 February)

To our Sacred Heart Community

Shrove Tuesday & Ash Wednesday

This week across the College we have prepared for the beginning of Lent with Shrove Tuesday & Ash Wednesday. Our Student Leaders modelled their service to others on Tuesday as they cooked and sold  pancakes to support Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion.

Lent, the period of 40 days which comes before Easter, begins on Ash Wednesday. Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. Our  Students Leaders led Ash Wednesday liturgies on each campus and staff and students were invited to reflect on ways in which we can engage in prayer, outreach and service this Lent.

Living & Learning at Sacred Heart College – Learning

This week we share with you the final iteration of our Living & Learning at Sacred Heart College video series. Kate Kilpatrick (Head of Champagnat Campus) and Caitlin Bailey (Champagnat Student Leader 2021) unpack Learning at Sacred Heart College and outline how visible learning is experienced and embedded in our daily lives.

Governor’s Civics Awards for Schools – Millie Brown

We congratulate Year 12 student, Millie Brown who has received an individual award for Civics from the Governor of South Australia in the Stage 1 and 2 Category. Millie submitted an essay on the right to protest and was one of only 6 students in the State to be selected. Millie attended a ceremony at Government House on Wednesday where she met the Governor and received her award. Outstanding achievement Millie, well done!

Year 8 Camp

Year 8 students had a warm camp week on Hindmarsh Island.  Surfing, Kayaking and Bike Riding along with pitching and sleeping in tents and cooking on a trangia rounded out the experience.

Despite the weather being a little warm, our students and staff  embraced the opportunity to be courageous and relational learners as they stepped outside of the normal school learning environment.

Parents & Friends Welcome Evening (Friday 19 March)

The Parents & Friends Association warmly invites all Marcellin Campus Parents & Caregivers to attend the 2021 P & F Welcome Evening on Friday 19 March in the Brother Stephen Debourg Performing Arts Centre.

The cost of the evening is $15/person which includes drinks and nibbles. Tickets can be purchased via Trybooking (https://www.trybooking.com/BPAYN) by Monday 15 March.

Next week we look forward to a big day on the Marcellin Calendar, Sports Day! Our Year 12 Student Leaders and especially our House Captains, have been preparing for the day and I have no doubt it will once again be a day of colourful costumes, house spirit and a true example of Marist Family Spirit. A reminder that Sports Day is a normal school day and attendance on this day for all students is compulsory.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
