From the Deputy Principal (Friday 25 September)

To our Sacred Heart Community

PPEP Talk Program (Wednesday 23 September)

On Wednesday, our Year 10 girls were involved in the PPEP Talk Program (Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Program), a specific information session aimed to educate young women about period pain, pelvic pain and endometriosis. The program is a nationally and state funded program which has been rolled out across South Australia in the past 18 months.

We were lucky to also have our Federal Member, Nicolle Flint, to be present with us for this session. Nicolle has been a leading policy advocate for women’s health issues in the federal Parliament, particularly endometriosis and we were delighted to have her with us for the morning.

Founders Day (Friday 25 September)

Our normal whole-College Founder’s Day Liturgy was delivered online this year and focused our celebration on it’s inherent purpose; to reach out to the marginalised and bring Christlife to birth. You can view the Founder’s Day Liturgy here

Special ‘Hearts’ donuts were produced by Villis and distributed to all students and staff across both campuses. Champagnat House Leaders facilitated fundraising activities during the break with all proceeds going towards our Founder’s Day Mission Appeal.

Our College set an ambitious target of raising $10,000.00 through the appeal. These funds go straight to Marist communities in our Immersion countries to provide educational resources, improve community facilities, and allow the Marist Brothers to sustain the critical work they do to stem the cycle of disadvantage.

The link to our Founder’s Day Mission Appeal is still open, and we encourage all members of our community to give what they can.

As always, we thank the Hearts community for their generosity and support of our Marist Mission.

Student Leadership 2021

Over the past three weeks, Year 8 students at Champagnat Campus and Year 11 students at Marcellin Campus have been engaged in writing applications, undertaking interviews and presenting in front of their peers as part of the 2021 Student Leadership process.

This year we had a very high number of nominations and the following leaders were elected from an outstanding group of candidates. We congratulate the following students and look forward to them leading our College in 2021.

College Terms Dates 2021

The College Term Dates for 2021 are now available here.

We have moved the Professional Learning (PL) Week from Week 10, Term 2 to Week 11 of Term 1. As Easter falls at the end of Week 10 we will have boarders who return home for Easter and feel moving the PL week to Week 11 will be supportive to our boarding families.

There will be an additional Professional Learning Day at some stage during the year, with a date to be confirmed.

Our Year 12 students are looking forward to a key event tomorrow evening with the Year 12 Formal being held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. I have no doubt it will be a wonderful, albeit different, celebration and a fitting way for our Year 12’s to conclude what has been a hectic term of study and extra-curricular commitments.

To our staff, students and families, I wish you a restful holiday period and trust that you manage to enjoy some less structured time away from the demands of the school term.

Deputy Principal
