From the Deputy Principal (Thursday 27 October)

To our Sacred Heart Community

Farewell to the Class of 2022

This week marks the final days of schooling for the Class of 2022. Last night, the Year 12 graduates and their families joined with staff for the Graduation Mass in the McAteer Centre. The theme for the Mass was ‘Facing the future with audacity and hope’. St Marcellin challenged his brothers to be audacious and hope-filled people. The Graduation Mass concluded with the Marist Heart Ceremony and the Principal’s Address, where Steve Byrne reflected on the journey of our graduates through the lens of the Marist themes for 2021 and 2022.

This afternoon, the Year 12s were formally farewelled at the Year 12 Graduation Assembly, followed by a celebration in the Quad. The Year 12 Award recipients were announced and the privilege of student leadership was handed over to the 2023 leadership team.

Tonight, our Boarders and their families will come together at the Kooyonga Golf Club for the Boarders’ Graduation Dinner.

We congratulate the Class of 2022 on completing their schooling and wish them well in their upcoming exams.

Several Year 12 parents remarked yesterday evening at the Farewell Mass that it was hard to believe their child they dropped off to their first day of school all those years ago was now in their final day of schooling. It has been a remarkable journey for this class, who have endured more than most in their final three years of schooling. It was, therefore, all the more pleasing to be able to celebrate with families yesterday evening.

This afternoon, we acknowledged the students in front of the entire campus, and this evening we have a special Boarders Graduation Dinner. It is a rich and fulfilling time of the year!

Year 9s have been away on Rite Journey camps this week, which continues into next week. We thank staff for facilitating this special experience and commend the students for the way in which they’ve engaged with their challenges and launched into their time away. We will share their experiences next week.

Best wishes to our Year 12s as they embark on SWOT Vac next week!
