From the Director of Boarding (Friday 2 July)

To our Sacred Heart Boarding Community

It was fantastic to welcome so many of you here last Friday afternoon to see our Year 12 Boarders in all of their finery and to farewell them as they headed off to their Year 12 Formal. It was a wonderful occasion!

I would also like to begin by conveying my appreciation to all of our Year 10 and Year 11 Boarders for the way in which they approached our structured study sessions last week in the Boarding House. For many of them, this was the first exam experience that they have had and it was fantastic to see their level of engagement and the support that they also offered each other throughout some of the collaborative study sessions. We have passed on this appreciation to the Boarders and I am very confident that all of their hard work will pay off when the Statement of Results are released later in the week.

Please see below some key information in relation to staffing in the Girls Boarding House, Key Dates for Terms 3 and 4 and finally, information related to accessing Formal Photos.

Girls Boarding House Staffing

We farewell Margie after 13 years at the College and 6 years involved with the Girls and Boys Boarding Houses. We sincerely thank Margie for the unconditional care and support that she has offered our Boarders over so many years and her motherly presence in the Girls Boarding House will certainly be missed. We wish Margie a happy retirement and hope her and husband Grant enjoy some of the travel opportunities that they have planned in the near future.

We also welcome Gabby Reeves to our community as she joins us as the new Girls Boarding Coordinator. Gabby comes to us from Scotch College, where she has supported their Boarding House and broader College community through enrolments, customer service, administration and supervisory roles over the last 8 years. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Gabby and she is extremely excited about joining our SHC Boarding Family. We also offer our sincere thanks to Mel Klaebe for her efforts as Acting Girls Boarding Coordinator for a bit over a Term; our staff and girls have appreciated her guidance and leadership during this period of time.

We are also thrilled that Ruby Breen and Leila Petruzzella will continue in their supervisory roles within the Girls Boarding House for the remainder of the year.

Finally, as many of you are aware, our beloved Girls Boarding Supervisor Di Black has been battling some significant health challenges throughout this year and she has never been far from our thoughts and prayers. Di has decided to take the rest of the year off and we wish her the very best during this time. Di is a remarkable woman and an incredible role model for our girls. We can’t wait to welcome Di back to the GBH sooner rather than later.
