Fees & Finance Information 2022
The 2022 Fees & Finance Information is now available to families. The net increase for tuition is near zero (0.2%) as the Building Levy has been removed. The exception to this is the Year 7 fee, which is planned to equate to the Year 8 & 9 figure from 2023. This means that the fee for Champagnat Campus will be the same across each year level. The Fees & Finance Information 2022 can be found via https://www.shc.sa.edu.au/enrolments/college-fees/.
This completes the resetting of the College Fee structures across 2021/22. Remembering that this year fees were reduced by 6% across Years 7 to 9 and by 13% for Years 10 – 12. Our aim is to keep our fees as manageable as possible, whilst providing a well resourced, holistic, Marist educational program.
As always, please feel free to contact the Finance Office by phone (08) 8350 2500 or email accounts@shc.sa.edu.au.
Year 9 STEM Excursion
This week, Year 9 STEM students had an opportunity to learn first hand what it means to study in STEM and learn where it can take them in the future. They attended Ingenuity, an expo of university students projects exploring the applications of STEM. There were around 300 projects on display and the students enjoyed interacting with the projects and engaging in conversations with the university students.
Afterwhich, the students went to the Museum of Discovery (MOD.) and explored the It’s Complicated exhibition and learnt about the interconnectedness of complex systems. Favourite exhibits were ‘Cell Invaders’, where students entered the bloodstream magic school bus style, and the ‘Cave of Sounds’ where they used shadows and their bodies to create music.
Curriculum Extension Activities Nominations 2022
Sacred Heart College offers a broad Curriculum Extension Activities Program giving our students the opportunity to participate in a range of sports, music and clubs. Participation in these activities provides a great opportunity for students to be more connected to the College, whilst pursuing a passion or learning a new skill. It also provides teachers and parents/caregivers to form partnerships in the education of our students.
Nominations for sports, music & clubs will be available from Monday 1 November 2021 via the College website (https://www.shc.sa.edu.au/learning/co-curricular/). Online Nominations are to be submitted via the link below and students are encouraged to read the Sports Handbook & Music Handbook before making their nomination. Families will receive correspondence regarding Online Nominations on Monday afternoon.
Marcellin Campus Exam Invigilators
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from members of the Sacred Heart College community to join our pool of volunteer Exam Invigilators at Marcellin Campus. Exam Invigilators assist in the supervision of students as they undertake exams. Exams are held twice-annually at our Marcellin Campus. Exam Invigilators are engaged as volunteers and receive an honorarium payment. Information regarding volunteering with Sacred Heart College can be found at www.shc.sa.edu.au/volunteers.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Lauren Young, Human Resources Manager, via hr@shc.sa.edu.au.
Annual Parent/Caregiver School Survey
Each year we are required to undertake satisfaction surveys and analyse the resultant data and report on it to the Australian Government.
Parents/Caregivers are invited to complete this brief survey as developed by Education Services Australia for use by schools via https://www.schoolsurvey.edu.au/s/SHC2021PARENTSurvey
The survey is open from today and will close on 31 December 2021.
A number of events will occur across the College in the coming week in support of Childhood Cancer and Sarcoma. The ‘Run for Charlotte’ event this Sunday 31 October is in memory of Charlotte Agostino (SHOC 2020) and has been organised by her classmates and the SHOC community. Tickets are available via https://www.trybooking.com/BTVKK.
On each campus various activities and initiatives will also take place. Please support the fundraising efforts in support of this research.
Finally, with COVID restrictions lifting we have resumed College Tours. With a tour at Marcellin scheduled for tomorrow and over 150 people attending Champagnat we will have had over 250 people tour this week, including several boarding families.
We are flattered by the demand for enrolments across the College and just a friendly reminder to current and future families, especially those in Parish Schools, please ensure you submit your applications by the set dates to ensure a place at the College. It is also worth noting that as the country opens up there will be some movement of families to other schools and places across the year levels become periodically available. Please contact the College if you wish to express interest, should such a place become available.
Wishing you well!
Steve Byrne
Principal
