The School was founded in 1967 and until 1977 it was known as St Joseph's College. In that year it became part of the South West Region Authority of Catholic Schools and assumed systemic status with the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools. The name of the school was also changed to Sacred Heart College Middle School (SHCMS) which captured its place in the region and its close relationship with Sacred Heart College Senior. In most years ninety-nine per cent of the boys graduating from Year 9 complete their secondary education at SHC Senior.
In 2015 SHCMS and SHC Senior will become one College (Sacred Heart College) allowing for the full integration of a seamless curriculum. SHC will also continue to work in close partnership with Marymount College in this transition process.
Like all schools, SHC is constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our students and their families. One dimension of this evolution has been the continual development of classrooms and specialist facilities. Along with these physical changes, staff at SHC are committed to upgrading their skills and implementing innovative educational and pastoral programs to ensure that the needs of all students are catered for.
