Year 9 Rite Journey Challenge Program – “The Abyss”

This week, our Year 9 students ventured off site for the ‘Abyss’, an important and challenging component of the Rite Journey Program.

Over a three day period, students participated in a range of activities including hiking, high ropes, dragon boating and team building games. The program tested the students’ resilience and growth mindset by taking them out of their comfort zone both physically and mentally.

The ‘Abyss’ also contained an element of solitude, allowing students to reflect on the growth they have shown throughout the year as well as character strengths developed.

Congratulations to the Year 9 students as they embraced the challenge of this week with positivity and enthusiasm!

End of Year Music Performance (Thursday 15 October)

Another great evening of celebration for the Music Department at Marcellin Campus to start Term 4. The evening was held across two sessions, ensuring our music families and friends were able to attend, complying with the limitations of audience numbers.

We congratulate Jack Larkin (Year 10 Student), award winner of The Mollie Gilchrist Award for his contribution to the Music Department at Marcellin Campus

Well done to all students & staff involved – special thanks to the fantastic Year 12 group for their commitment, talent and energy that they have brought to our department over their time at Sacred Heart.

SANFL Grand Finals 2020

With the SANFL Grand Finals being held this Sunday at Adelaide Oval between North Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens (League & Reserves), there are several names on the team lists which sound familiar.

A remarkable number of Old Scholars will be playing across the day, we wish them the best of luck! Also representing Sturt Football Club in the U18 Grand Final Game is Jacob Lochowiak (Year 11 Student)!

Adding to the lineup, Alice Haddy (‘13) will be singing the Australian National Anthem – a fantastic achievement, Alice!

Class of 2020 Conclusion Formalities

Earlier this week Year 12 families received correspondence regarding the concluding formalities for the Class of 2020 which commence next week.

  • Wednesday 21 October – Year 12 Graduation Mass
  • Thursday 22 October – Formal classes conclude & Year 12 Graduation Assembly followed by an informal celebration in Walter Park

During Week 3, revision classes are held for all examinable subjects and some other classes. Students are required to attend as notified. Across the following weeks, formal examinations take place.

The Year 12 Graduation Ceremony at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Friday 27 November concludes all formalities for the Class of 2020. Details and attendance restrictions due to COVID Management Plans have been communicated. However, we continue to work with the relevant authorities to seek greater numbers for the Graduation Ceremony.

A key theme we have been emphasising with the Class of 2020 is that: ‘your last impression is your lasting impression’! The College’s expectation is for a dignified conclusion with all, usual, high standards of conduct anticipated.

We look forward to a continuation of the appropriate and joyful conclusion of formalities for the graduating class, as has been the case for several years now!

Best wishes,

Steve Byrne
