COVID-19 Response (Tuesday 20 July)

To our Sacred Heart Community

As you are aware the Premier has announced a statewide lockdown in South Australia for the next 7 days.

The College will be closed except for supervision of the children of essential workers. If you wish for your child to be supervised, you are asked to register their attendance here.

Our experience from the past has shown these numbers to be extremely low and we encourage families to only send their children to school if you are an essential worker or have no other alternative. You DO NOT need to complete this registration if your intention is for your child to engage in learning at home in Term 3.

We will have a small number of staff on site to provide supervised care to any family who requires this essential service. If you have notified the College that your child will be present on either of these days, they are asked to present to the Library so that we can register their attendance.

Students have been asked to bring home all the materials and equipment that will assist them with their learning.

Tomorrow will be a staff preparation day as we transition to online learning. All students will commence online learning on Thursday 22 July.

We will continue to provide updates during the course of the lockdown and we thank you for your ongoing support and partnership with the wider Hearts Community.

Stay safe and take care.

COVID-19 Fatigue & Youth Mental Health

The current COVID-19 environment of repeated lock downs is having a profound impact on the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents, far greater it appears than the experts have predicted. Now, halfway through 2021 the numbers are in on the emotional and developmental price being paid.

This Special Report spear headed by Child Psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg, is essential and timely viewing for parents, carers and educators reflecting new research and what uncertainties for families and young people lay ahead.

SchoolTV and Broadcast (a well-being platform developed for a coalition of Australian Principal Associations, including AHISA) has generously made this link available to all schools. The video can be shared with your school community.
