Reconciliation Week

This week we acknowledge and celebrate National Reconciliation Week. Reconciliation Australia’s theme for 2021, More than a word. Reconciliation takes action, urges the reconciliation movement towards braver and more impactful action. We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation and we are reminded that reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians is something we should work towards 365 days a year

Students on each campus gathered in campus and house assemblies to pause and reflect on the importance of reconciliation and the call to action that we have within our own Hearts Community. At our Marcellin Assembly and in support of our wider community, our Year 12 Leaders responded to the call to action and launched a campus initiative to support Aboriginal women fleeing family violence situations.

Our Hearts Aboriginal Program students shared their thoughts on what reconciliation in action looks like to them. We are exceptionally proud of the young people we have in our community and we applaud them for the amazing video to share their voice. Take a look here!

Many Hearts. Sacred Heart.

Sibling Enrolments

Enrolments are currently being finalised for 2022 with limited placements now available in all year levels. An application is required for every enrolling student with entry interviews currently underway for 2023 applicants. Current families who have a sibling eligible to commence either as a day or boarding student in 2023 and have not submitted an application to date, are encouraged to please complete an Application for Enrolment Form for their child as soon as possible.

While sibling enrolments are prioritised, places cannot always be guaranteed for late applicants. Application Forms can be accessed from the College website via https://www.shc.sa.edu.au/enrolments/enrolling-at-sacred-heart/ or collected from the Front Office at both Champagnat Campus and Marcellin Campus.

To ensure that our records and communication to you is accurate, it is important that we have current family contact details at all times. Should your residential address, telephone number or email address change at any time, please inform the College so our records can be updated.

Alternatively, you can access the parent portal to update your details at anytime. For enrolment enquires, please contact Virgina Miller, College Registrar on 8350 2580 or by email registrar@shc.sa.edu.au. All boarding enquiries can be directed to the Julie Raymond, Personal Assistant to the Director of Boarding on 8350 2559 or by email boarding@shc.sa.edu.au

Sacred Heart College Learner Characteristics

Launched in 2020, the Sacred Heart College Learner Characteristics continue to be unpacked and developed across the College.  Learners and families are encouraged to consider the different characteristics and how they can be used to support the learning process.

Learning should be a struggle and when we are in “the pit” of learning something new or struggling through a new challenge, the characteristics and dispositions we display are what we use to get us through.

For a reminder of what the Learner Characteristics are and why they are important to learners at the College, take a look at our video launched earlier this year.

Women’s Leadership Summit

Today, Sacred Heart College hosted a group of female leaders from across Catholic Education South Australia to participate collectively in the Australian Schools Women’s Leadership Summit. It was an honour to host such an event at the College and to have the opportunity to support and connect with female leaders across our system.

All leadership is important and supporting leaders in their development, be it student leaders, teacher leaders, middle leaders and senior leaders is an important part of what we do at Sacred Heart.
